Disappointing! Frame is not a good looking wooden frame. It is more of a plastic look. The plastic stand is not very rigid and has a lot of give in it. Very difficult to set up due to an instruction manual which is non-explanatory. The frame arrived broken as the four screws which attach the digital frame to the so called wooden frame were snapped off and the inner part was loose from the outer frame. Four unsitely screw connectors are used to attach the two frames together. Picture quality is not bad but the random slideshow we were promised after returning another Opteka frame still follows the order the pictures were taken in and rarely does random. We are keeping this one simply because we are tired of the hassle of returning the frames. Not worth the $179.
Three Strikes![]()
I originally ordered the OPT15 digital picture frame with one Gig of internal memory. It was to be a Christmas present for my 80 year old mother, so I wanted a frame big enough to see and with enough memory onboard so that I could place her pictures there and she would not need to worry about playing with SD cards or USB memory sticks.
The first frame I received had an internal memory problem where it would become corrupted if you stored more than 200 meg on it. I was able to format the memory, tried again, and had the same result. I called 47th Street Photo and they didn’t even question me about wanting a replacement. They had apparently had numerous reports of this issue.
I received a second frame and it had the exact same issue. I also received a 2 Gig SD card with it. 47th Street Photo knew that there had been a factory production issue and that pretty much all of these frames would have the same onboard memory issue. The card was sent to provide an alternative. Unfortunately, the primary reason I wanted the frame was to NOT have to ask an elderly woman to swap tiny cards in and out of the frame.
At this point, well after Christmas, I asked 47th Street Photo for my money back. I was going to start from scratch. I was told that their policy was to only do exchanges if too much time had passed FROM THE ORIGINAL ORDER. The only option I had was to try a third frame from them.
By this time they had dropped the price of the OPT15 frame by forty dollars (from $180 to $140) and they had a brand new frame at the original price point. This is the ILW15 frame. They sent me this frame, rather than a third OPT15. They told me to keep the 2 Gig SD card for my troubles. I want to point out that customer service for 47th Street Photo was very good; it is the products that I have a complaint with.
I received the third frame and its internal memory was also unusable, but for a different reason. I could not get a computer to recognize that I had connected the frame to it. I tried multiple computers, and I tried other devices in the same USB ports I had tried the frame in, and they worked fine.
The power supply connects into the frame right next to the connection for the computer cord. The power worked intermittently. Sometimes I would need to wiggle the power connection in the frame before it would come on. The whole unit behind the frame was very loose when I received it. It sort of sits in the frame and is supposed to be braced by four screw in pads. All of these braces were loose when I received the frame and the whole back would move quite a bit every time the frame was moved. My guess is that this constant knocking against the frame might have damaged the connectors for the computer and power supply.
At this point I have given up. I’m not going to try to get yet another Opteka product. I will take my $180 SD card and look elsewhere.
